Aims & Objectives

“We aim as an educational Trust to preserve and restore the historic landscape and traditional farmstead of Bryn-Mawr.

To educate through the promotion of medieval history, in the age of the timber and earth castle and Llys,traditional agricultural skills, and buildings.

To promote the understanding of early crafts, arts and technology to ensure this knowledge is preserved.

To create an open air living history museum for local, national and international members, visitors, schools and students.”

The Bryn Mawr Heritage Trust was established to purchase a long term lease centered on this unique medieval Montgomeryshire house.

It is to be placed into Community Trust so that all may be involved in helping to secure YOUR heritage.

The restoration and maintenance of this rare building will provide a special educational resource for "learning by doing".

The Trust aims to create a center for lifelong learning where you can live in the past and learn for the future

Bryn Mawr

Bryn-Mawr, Llanerfyl. A tyddyn – homestead, as appears in the old Welsh Laws This house is of central-chimney type. The fireplace is central. The house is of cruck construction The roof is of rushes with a clod ridge. The house itself on the open moor land in one of the most inaccessible situations in the whole of Wales. The sense of place and the sense of connection to and through the generations of people who have stood on Bryn-Mawr in the past is the essence of an historic landscape.
