Become a member of the Bryn Mawr Heritage Trust
Membership of the Bryn Mawr Heritage Trust is based on a yearly subscription or the purchase of Shares .
Annual subscription to be a member is £15 per individual or £25 per family.
Subscriptions run from April 2007 to April 2008 and are then renewable on a yearly basis.
This entitles the subscriber to a quarterly Heritage Trust Journal with information about and concessions at events, volunteering opportunities, participation in historical re-enactments, living history events and invitations to member’s only social events.
It does not entitle the member to a vote at the AGM.
It will also ensure that all participants are insured whilst attending the site.
The members Journal will be available by post or electronically via e-mail and will be used to advertise all events, workshops and activities held by the Trust as well as a regular chance for the Project Personnel to up date the members of plans and progress at the site.
It is hoped to include a series of useful articles covering archaeology, heritage, medieval history, traditional building and agriculture, useful contacts articles and letters submitted by the members.
Regular volunteer work camps will be held at the site throughout the year allowing you the chance to come along and learn by doing in a range of activities- traditional building skills, farming and agriculture, country crafts and ancient technologies.
Members will be invited to attend various historical re-enactment events throughout the year at Bryn Mawr from one day historical craft workshops to week long living history events where you can become totally immersed in the sites and sounds of our ancestors.
These events will cover everything from everyday rural life on an upland farm to feasts, tournaments, battles and sieges set within our recreated motte and bailey castle. Please note these events are members only and there will be no ‘visitors’ or members of the general public attending these events as an audience , they are designed to be totally immersive living history experiences for the participants.
The Castell will recruit its own “Levy” of foot soldiers who can take part in regular training weekends, from shooting the long bow, learning the art of the spear, sword and shield to shooting siege engines.
Members will have an opportunity to participate in some of the largest medieval re-enactment events in the U.K as the Heritage Trust will be attending select events in the summer. Details will be posted in the Journal.
Parts of the Heritage Trust web site will only be accessible to members along with a member’s only section of the forum, image gallery and our planned video update. Here members will be able to view a video diary of monthly progress at Bryn Mawr thus allowing you to keep up with recent developments and progress at the site on a regular visual basis.
Finally membership of the Bryn Mawr Heritage Trust allows you to make a positive and essential contribution to the preservation and restoration of this unique building and landscape, ensuring its survival for generations to come.
